What I Think I Know

The Chabah train keeps rolling - we're now advertising with Blogads. Check out the ads on some cool blogs:
Cold Fury
Yeeeah
Fabulous Finds
Martinis, Persistence, and a Smile
SistersTalk

It's fun getting to make ads the way I like. Of course that doesn't mean they're working - it's just fun.

Speaking of fun, if you're looking for something more amusing, check out Passed Out Wookies

The Chabah Online Store is now LIVE. Thank you to those who entered test orders. Feel free to tell your cow-orkers and fiends to check out the site.

I'm psyched! I don't expect a lot of sales at first, but it's totally sweet to have our own store open. w00t!

And if you haven't seen it yet, take a look: www.Chabah.com

Who wants to work? It would be so much nicer to hang out at the park.

Yesterday, Apple reported that they will be switching to Intel chips. This lead to a lot of unhappiness (see here and here) in the Mac community.

I think the bellyaching is misplaced. Basically, I think the people that are complaining know just enough about the technology to get themselves in trouble in their analysis. That is, they know enough to draw some conclusions, but not necessarily the right or most important conclusions.

I, of course, know even less. I am pretty much a pure Mac consumer - I use them like mad, but I don't much care how they work. I use them because they are great machines, and have by far the best software around, at least for the kinds of things I do.

So, from my perspective, I don't see any problem using Intel. It really doesn't matter if some hackers can make OSX run on a regular beige box PC, or an XBOX, or anything - those things can't be marketed. Dell can't sell a computer with OSX pre-installed, and that isn't going to change simply because Macs have Intel inside.

Now Windows is something else altogether. It should be quite easy for Macs to run Windows programs, or Windows straight away, when they have Intel chips. That seems to me like a big win for Apple - their machines do both, but the competition's machines only do Windows. Hmmmmm...

Don't let the news shake your faith in Apple - they have great products and will continue to have great products while using Intel.

Meanwhile, the stock is taking a little hit, which is another good buying opportunity. Apple anywhere south of $40 per share is a pretty good investment - don't be scared off by this Intel news. Steve has done a great job and isn't about to nosedive the company - have faith in someone who has earned it.

The Motley Fool agrees.

PS - Using the Mac mini on my HDTV is SCHWEEET!

The Chabah main website is now updated! We have added pages discussing the corporate philosophy, how the shoes are made, and shipping policies. There is also a product page that links directly to the store.

The Online Store has been updated with a couple new styles - we'll continue to add styles over the next couple weeks.

Please continue to make sample orders, and as I wrote last week, I will fill some of them, so be sure to order what you actually want!

Please also send me comments, such as any typos or funky stuff on the website. I want it to be great, so any assistance is greatly appreciated.

In other news, it was a very good weekend. I did yard work, earned money playing poker - which I used for materials and to take the ladies out to sushi, and otherwise enjoyed the weather. Good stuff and nary a reason in the world to complain.
