What I Think I Know by Damien Del Russo
This is one of my favorites, our time on Koh Samed (or Koh Samet) at the end of our last trip. As a video, it is simple and elegant, a great example of what you can do in iMovie in about 2 hours (on a bumpy bus). It uses long video segments, which makes for a much simpler presentation that Working for Vacation, which is downright frenetic.
I'm really happy with this also because when I watch it back, I don't see any flaws. I often leave flaws in my video, as I don't re-edit old videos. The flaws are part of the process, and I keep them as little reminders. Often they are quite small, and probably aren't noticed by anyone other than me. An example would be leaving one photo without a pan when all the other photos have pans - really minor stuff.
Anyway, I haven't noticed any flaws in this video, and I have watched it at least 30 times. I will probably watch it 100 more before I'm 40, and perhaps nothing else when I'm a crazy old coot. Lastly, I am very happy with this video because it is both true to our time there, evoking the feeling on cue, and it fit my vision for what it should be before we even got to the island. In other words, it is my ideal. Enjoy:
We start Movie Week with my newest creation, Working for Vacation. This is a quick-edited, short video of our stopover in Japan and our time in Pisanuloke, set to the song of the same name by Cibo Matto.
The web version suffers a bit from only being 12 frames per second - the DVD version is a lot better at 30 FPS. Nonethess, I am pretty happy with it overall. There is a lot to see, and you can probably watch it 10 times and not see everything in it. Enjoy!
