What I Think I Know by Damien Del Russo
Dinner at Jaleo was fabulous, as expected. It was quite long, but Artemis was a great girl throughout. She likes Monchego (spelling?) cheese a lot!
Today she was singing along to Morrissey. That's my girl. Even better, Yin was singing along to Morrissey. I have it made.
I got a trailer hitch installed on our wagon today. Thus, in the game of life, we have upgraded our capabilities. We now have more power to accomplish our goals, be they for good, evil, or profit.
While I was waiting for the hitch, I generated web-friendly versions of three movies. So guess what? Next week is...movie week! You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll send me money in exchange for a vow to never sing again.
Five years happy marriage. One beautiful child growing happily, another on the way. Starting a new business, making some home improvements, and otherwise acting like an adult. With a life this content, no wonder my website is boring! There just isn't much to complain about, and optimism sounds so cheesy.
Oh well! Today I started out by putting out the garbage, mowing the lawn, giving my wife a few small presents, and opening our large order of shoes to let them air out (they are smelly when brand new). After work, dinner at Jaleo is the plan.
Enjoy this beautiful day! Woohoo, so happy to have my convertible.
I recently updated the What I Read page - have a look-see.
Also, I am aware that the video links on the left are now broken. That's the disadvantage to having someone else (ahem) control the .mac files. But! They will soon be replaced by new videos from our last trip to Thailand. So, that will be better. Until then, suffer. Note that DVD's of ALL our home movies are available for only $320 each.
It's time to buy Apple. Two times.
First, the actual computer. On Friday, Apple will release the newest version of the best operating system around. Best user interface, best security, superb compatibility - everything. Hard core coders might like Linux (until they try OSX), but I have no caveats in recommending OS X as the best operating system. And on Friday, the latest and greatest will be available.
In addition, Apple recently updated the iLife suite, which is what we use to organize all our photos and music, as well as create movies, DVDs, and even original music (I've never posted my music - thank me later!). iLife comes free with any new computer purchase.
Anyway, the reason to buy is that the best OS and the best creative/home life software will be available on a new working computer, about 6"x6"x2", for $500. You can plug in your existing monitor, and you can use your existing keyboard and mouse (if they are USB). You can keep your existing network. Hell, you can even go Commodore and hook up your television if it has S-Video or an HD input (that's what I'm doing). All this, for base $500, or about $800 loaded (faster chip, bigger hard drive, wireless card, extra RAM). If that can't convince a Windows user to try Mac, they don't deserve it!
It's also time to look at the stock, AAPL. I've been loading up since it went under $40, and it is still a good time to buy (still under $37 today). Apple is poised for another good run - maybe not another 300%, but I have no doubt it will beat the market and probably increase at least 25% before the year is out. If you are looking to invest, this is a nice opportunity.
Thanks for checking in - see you tomorrow. If you want something more to read, check out this excellent post from CapLion (thanks Brian).
I knew it the moment I walked in. She was there, eating Popeye's. My wife just doesn't eat Popeye's, not unless I successfully plead my way into a trip after going to Target. But there she was, digging her teeth into a scrawny, spicy chicken breast, half a biscuit gone and a massive soda mostly finished.
The confirmation came Sunday morning - two solid lines. That's right boys and girls, the bun is in the oven and the timer is set for January 2006. I'm going to be a doubly proud papa!
In other news, I made a new video (soon to be posted, as soon as we free up some disk space online) of our trip to Thailand, built a platform for Artemis' little play house and kitchen, and installed a 10 foot square Gazebo from Target (on a new platform that I built). Our yard is quickly becoming a destination!
Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for some 18 year old Scotch (that's the best I have).
